Dear Western Illinois University- Quad Cities,

On behalf of The Edge staff and myself, I welcome you to our newest student run, online publication, The Edge. The River’s Edge, our former student run newspaper has evolved into this new development. This has been an ongoing project for a couple of months and I am excited to finally say we have officially launched.

So, welcome my fellow students and lovers of language and communication.

I first had the idea of creating this publication last spring. It started out as a giggly conversation in Dr. Everett Hamner’s office. It very quickly turned into a meeting with Dr. Curtis Williams, and with the help of some very supportive peers, coworkers and professors, became a reality. On behalf of the entire staff, we hope to create a welcoming place for student’s to have a voice on this campus; our campus. A place where opinions can be expressed, news can be reported, entertainment can be provided and student work can be showcased. Every student is a staff member and every student is welcome to display their talents on The Edge.

Thank you for your support and your love for reading. We want you to engage with us, to challenge us, to inspire us, to humor us, and we look forward to a very long term relationship with our student body.
