The Museum Studies student group, GEMS (Graduate Experience in Museum Studies) took a trip to New Orleans, Louisiana to visit many different types of museums and to get behind the scenes tours.
The students, accompanied by Dr. Pam White, professor of Museum Studies, visited the VooDoo Museum, Audubon Aquarium, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, Evergreen Plantation, World War II Museum, and the New Orleans Museum of Art. Students were able to see behind the scenes at the Aquarium, World War II Museum, and New Orleans Museum of Art. This experience was great to allow students the opportunity to see how different types of museums are run, and were allowed the chance to see objects not currently on display.

The trip was a wonderful opportunity for all the students who went, and gave students a great chance to network with other museum professionals in a different region.
