The Western Quad Cities campus will be holding a non-perishable food drive February 22-26 for the “Friendly House”. The “Friendly House” is a program based in Davenport established in 1896. Their mission is to serve those in the community who have a variety of needs. They run programs for children and families alike. Preschool scholarships, a food bank and emergency assistance are only a few of the ways that the Friendly House has brought hope to people who may have not otherwise had a hand to reach out to. The food drive that will be taking place here on campus will give a simple way to join in on this worthy cause. The winter weather has come into full swing and every effort is appreciated not only by the organizations who are involved, but especially by the people who are able to receive these small, yet wonderful gifts. The task may be large, but when each person does what they are able, their efforts are combined and multiplied. Many of the items may already be sitting on a forgotten pantry shelf and can easily be tossed into a book bag. There will be several drop-off locations around campus. The WIU QC SHRM student chapter (Society of Human Resources) has organized this drive and would like to give a tremendous thank you in advance for any and all donations that are provided.
