Winter is in full swing, which might mean your skin is as dry as the Sahara. From body butters, to deep conditioning hair masks, this is your go-to guide to save your skin this winter.
Coconut Oil- This is the cure all for literally everything. Use this as a hair mask: leave it on at least an hour (or sleep with it) and wash it out the next day to reveal hydrated locks. Mix it with sugar as a body scrub to exfoliate away the dead skin; even use this as a moisturizer after you shower and let it soak in to really feel the difference.
Hair Mask- If you want to really splurge, get yourself a hair mask. When I first thought about getting one, I thought it was all hype-BOY WAS I WRONG. My hair has never felt healthier than after I do a hair mask (because lets be honest I don’t get my haircut as often as I should-but who has time for that?) It can be tricky to find one that works for your hair without weighing it down, or leaving a residue. I’ve tried many different kinds from different brands and the two I always go back to are the Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Mask and the Ouai Treatment Masque. Plus they both smell AMAZING
Hair Oil- If your hair is really feeling dry and brittle; oil can save the day. I only use it on the ends of my hair (not going above the ears) and after the shower, so when my hair dries it doesn’t get frizzy. I love using either coconut oil, or Moroccanoil treatment. A few drops can go a long way!
Exfoliators- It is so important to exfoliate at least once a week ESEPCIALLY in the winter, whether you use an exfoliate face scrub, or a brush. I recommend using any brush system (you can find them from your local drugstore, or even on Amazon because Amazon is life) at least once or twice a week. Some of my favorite exfoliators are from Neutrogena, Peter Thomas Roth and Biore.
Creams/ Moisturizer- It is always to put some type of moisturizer, but it’s especially important to do this in the winter! Opt for a lightweight one during the day, such as the Clinique Dramatically Different moisturizer. At night I always like to go in with something richer (especially if my skin is feeling extra parched). Tarte’s Drink of H2O Hydrating Boost Moisturizer or Neutrogena.
Mask/ Sheet Mask- If after doing all of these other steps and you’re still feeling that your skin isn’t as hydrated as you want it to be- try the GlamGlow Thirstymud mask-it has changed my life. You can use it as a 10-20 minute mask OR use a thin layer as a moisturizer at night and let it soak in (that’s what I do and it’s amazing). Another option is a sheet mask. These are so convenient yet they actually make a difference; all you do is put the sheet on your face, relax for 15-20 mins, take it off, and rub the excess serum into your skin. I even put mine on at night and sleep with it on! You can find so many different kinds from Walmart or Target all the way up to Sephora.
There you have it! These are my tips and tricks to survive the case of Winter skin. Of course some of these are splurges and not certainly not something I do on a daily basis (or even weekly). But its always such a fun time to pamper yourself especially during the colder months!
