The University of Illinois – Springfield Admissions Counselor

The University of Illinois Springfield has multiple openings for Admissions Counselors in the Office of Admissions. One of the three University of Illinois campuses, UIS emphasizes excellence in teaching, small classes, and quality student life. Admissions Counselors will be primarily responsible for recruiting undergraduate students.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, valid driver’s license, strong public speaking ability, enthusiastic approach to work and commitment to delivery of high quality service, personal schedule that accommodates the travel portion of the position, cooperative work style and strong personal initiative are all required. The ability to work independently and with minimal supervision is also required. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, self-directed person with good organizational, planning, and communication skills. Overnight travel and some evening/weekend work will be required. Interviewing and counseling skills are preferred to be able to provide students with proper advising, guidance, and assistance with academic planning. Previous work experience in admissions, recruitment, or higher education is a plus. Bilingual candidates and/or candidates with prior experience with recruiting will be regarded favorably. Positions will be based in the Chicago-area or in Springfield.
