    Assignments vary from March through December Seasonal full time positions are limited to a 5 month duration 

    Job summary: Under immediate supervision, responsible for maintaining and preparing soccer fields and baseball/softball diamonds for practices and league play, including field dressing, lining and general grooming. May assist with raking and operation of leaf vacuum equipment for removal of leaves for curbside pickup. Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and community. Performs other duties and operates other equipment as required.

    Minimum qualifications: Some maintenance experience desired. Familiarity with soccer and baseball/softball desired. Ability to perform physically demanding and repetitive work under all weather conditions. Ability to operate trucks and equipment essential for daily assignments. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to positively interact with the public, coworkers and staff. A valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record required with the exception of candidates under the age of 18 years of age. Must be 18 years of age per Iowa Code 92.8 if required to drive City vehicles. Must pass criminal background check.

 

  • Hourly Forestry Aide Forestry Division Parks & Recreation Department

    Wage: $12.00 per hour Effective 7/1/2020 – Starting wage will be $13.75 per hour Variable daytime hours up to 25 hours per week Hours of operation: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm

    Job summary: Under immediate supervision, assists with tree trimming and removal, brush chipping, tree planting, mulching and watering in right-of-ways, parks and all City property. Performs tasks associated with forestry, horticultural, snow removal and general labor work. Operates chainsaws, power pole pruners, hand pruners, brush chippers, dump trucks and other specialized equipment. May assist with raking and operation of leaf vacuum equipment for removal of leaves for curbside pickup. Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and community.

    Performs other duties and operates other equipment as required.

    Minimum qualifications: Ability to perform physically demanding and repetitive work under all weather conditions. Ability to operate trucks and equipment essential for daily assignments. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to positively interact with the public, coworkers and staff. A valid CDL with a satisfactory driving record is required at time of hire. Must maintain a valid CDL as a condition for continued employment.
